the details
USA Scanner lets you quickly determine if a product is associated with the USA by scanning its barcode.

Ever wonder where a product comes from? USA Scanner is your everyday tool for checking if a product might be linked to the USA. This app scans barcodes in a snap to reveal any country info they hold. And reacts if it finds USA. It usually shows where the registration happened—not necessarily where the item was made or who owns the brand.

Be aware there are also codes where it could be EITHER USA or CANADA!

For a deeper look, consider the factory’s location, the company’s headquarters, or brand ownership. Barcodes without location details are skipped, so you can explore what truly matters and satisfy your curiosity.

The app specifically identifies products with barcodes beginning with 030–039, 100–139, as well as UPC-A and UPC-E codes, indicating registration in the USA. Barcodes starting with 000–019 or 060–099 may be registered in either the USA or Canada, while other prefixes (020–029, 040–059, and 200–999) are not registered in the USA.

However, barcode prefixes indicate where the barcode itself was registered—not always the product's actual manufacturing location. Products registered in the USA might sometimes be produced elsewhere, and vice versa. USA Scanner is a playful tool to raise awareness, but always verify exact origins with the manufacturer's details. If the barcode is unreadable or unsupported, the app displays a brief message indicating that the code cannot be interpreted or that the origin cannot be determined.

ABOUT ME

I created this app as a personal experiment, with no organization or official support behind it. I actually love many things about the United States, but right now, for obvious reasons, I wanted to make a quiet statement. Please note that the results are just a rough guide—barcodes only show where they’re registered, not who owns the brand or where items are actually made. If you need full certainty, look into factory locations, headquarters, or brand ownership. This is just my small test project, so take it with a grain of salt and keep exploring on your own.
